Organized
Zahra’s work is a continuous narrative of congested spaces, which in her mind’s eye are a play of pattern like formations. The residential spaces of Old Lahore where she had spent her childhood remain her muse. Having described her art as a response to her surroundings, her subject continues to be a romanticization of the spaces she grew up in that she was once afraid of, but now has grown to love with the passage of time. Her work is recognisable with the emphasis and exaggeration of light in each painting, along with the frequent appearance of patterned fences that she associates closely with her hometown.
