Wazar (Wings)

Oil on canvas (unframed)
50" x 36"
US$ 520

'Wazar' means 'wings' in the Pashto language, which is commonly spoken in Swat, Northern Pakistan. Saddam's work is inspired by the Gandhara civilization, of which Swat was a major site in 800BC. He takes photographs of abandoned homes, using the textures left on the walls as inspiration to paint abstract figures, often positioned close to each other depicting their intimacy.

Note: This is an unframed painting.
