Narayan Bohaju is an emerging artist from Bhaktapur, Nepal. He has graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Banaras Hindu University, India (2012) and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting from Kathmandu University, Nepal (2009). He has worked on several experimental projects and participated in group exhibitions in both India and Nepal, including the Kathmandu International Art Festival in 2012. He has also had three solo exhibitions in Nepal, the most current being: ‘Beyond the Object’ in 2019.
Bohaju describes his work as submersion into mundane daily life situations and objects by breathing life into them through his paintings. As a visiting faculty member in Kathmandu University and having experienced the life of farming in the countryside, as well as his work in a fast paced city - he has encountered many people from all walks of life. He uses objects found in these situations and paints them in a way that narrates the dichotomy of these places and the reflection of people living together from different social classes.
His style of work is heavily inspired by realism, with oil paints being his preferred choice of medium.
